Ingredients

  • 1 pound beef sirloin or flank steak, sliced into thin strips
  • 2 cups lo mein noodles
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 onion sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 cup mixed bell peppers green, red, yellow
  • 2 cups shredded cabbage
  • 2 teaspoons soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon oyster sauce optional
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Method

  1. Cook the lo mein noodles according to package instructions and set aside.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, oyster sauce (if using), and sesame oil to make the sauce.
  3. Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
  4. Add the beef to the skillet and cook until browned, about 3-4 minutes, then remove from the skillet and set aside.
  5. In the same skillet, add the remaining 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil, then add the sliced onion and minced garlic and cook until the onion is translucent.
  6. Add the mixed bell peppers and shredded cabbage to the skillet and cook until the vegetables are tender-crisp.
  7. Return the cooked beef to the skillet, then pour in the sauce and stir to combine.
  8. Add the cooked lo mein noodles to the skillet and stir-fry everything together for about 2 minutes, until the noodles are well coated with the sauce.
