Ingredients

  • 6 cups fresh watermelon cubed and seeded
  • 1/4 cup fresh lime juice
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup fresh mint leaves
  • 2 cups cold water
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • Ice cubes for serving
  • Lime wedges for garnish
  • Fresh mint sprigs for garnish

Method

  1. Add cubed watermelon to a blender and blend until completely smooth, about 1-2 minutes.
  2. Strain the watermelon puree through a fine-mesh sieve into a large pitcher to remove any remaining pulp.
  3. Add lime juice, sugar, mint leaves, and salt to the strained watermelon juice.
  4. Stir mixture vigorously until sugar completely dissolves, about 1 minute.
  5. Add cold water and stir to combine all ingredients.
  6. Taste and adjust sweetness or lime juice as needed.
  7. Fill glasses with ice cubes and pour agua fresca over ice.
  8. Garnish each glass with a lime wedge and fresh mint sprig before serving.

Notes

Best served immediately over ice. Can be stored in refrigerator for up to 2 days - stir before serving as separation is natural. For a sugar-free version, substitute with stevia or agave nectar to taste.
