Ingredients
Method
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, cream together softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Mix in vanilla extract, then gradually add flour and salt until a dough forms.
- Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about 1/4 inch thickness. Use a heart-shaped cookie cutter to cut out shapes.
- Place cookies on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes, or until edges are lightly golden. Let cool completely.
- For the glaze, whisk together powdered sugar, strawberry jam, and milk until smooth. Add a drop of red food coloring if desired.
- Dip the top of each cookie into the glaze or drizzle it over the top. Add sprinkles if using.
- Allow glaze to set before serving. Store in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
Notes
For a stronger strawberry flavor, use freeze-dried strawberry powder in the glaze instead of jam.
