Southern Banana Cobbler

Ingredients
  

  • 4 ripe bananas sliced
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup hot water

Method
 

  1. Step 1: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9x9 inch baking dish.
  2. Step 2: Arrange the sliced bananas evenly in the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
  3. Step 3: In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  4. Step 4: Add the melted butter, milk, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Stir until well combined.
  5. Step 5: Pour the batter over the bananas in the baking dish, spreading it evenly.
  6. Step 6: Sprinkle the brown sugar evenly over the top of the batter.
  7. Step 7: Carefully pour the hot water over the top of the cobbler. Do not stir.
  8. Step 8: Bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the cobbler is bubbling.
  9. Step 9: Remove from the oven and let cool for 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

For extra flavor, you can add a pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg to the batter. Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for a truly decadent treat.
