Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef 80/20 blend
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 4 slices cheddar cheese
  • 8 slices bacon cooked until crispy
  • 1/4 cup BBQ sauce plus extra for serving
  • 4 hamburger buns
  • Lettuce tomato, and onion slices for topping

Method

  1. Preheat your grill to medium-high heat (about 375°F).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently until just combined.
  3. Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape into patties, slightly larger than your buns.
  4. Place the patties on the grill and cook for 4-5 minutes per side, or until they reach your desired level of doneness.
  5. During the last minute of cooking, top each patty with a slice of cheddar cheese and let it melt.
  6. While the patties cook, lightly toast the hamburger buns on the grill.
  7. Assemble the burgers by placing a patty on the bottom bun, topping with 2 slices of bacon, a drizzle of BBQ sauce, and your choice of lettuce, tomato, and onion.
  8. Serve immediately with extra BBQ sauce on the side.

Notes

For a smokier flavor, use hickory-smoked bacon. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days.
