Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 1/2 cup warm milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup raisins for eyes
  • 1 egg yolk + 1 tbsp milk for egg wash

Method

  1. Step 1: In a small bowl, dissolve yeast in warm milk and let sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. Step 2: In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, and salt. Add the yeast mixture, melted butter, egg, and vanilla extract. Mix until a dough forms.
  3. Step 3: Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  4. Step 4: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Punch down the dough and divide it into 8 equal pieces.
  5. Step 5: Shape each piece into a bunny by forming a ball for the body and smaller balls for the head and ears. Attach the pieces gently using water to help them stick.
  6. Step 6: Place the bunnies on a lined baking sheet. Brush with egg wash and press raisins into the heads for eyes.
  7. Step 7: Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown. Let cool before serving.

Notes

For extra sweetness, drizzle with a simple glaze made of powdered sugar and milk after baking.
