Beef & Mushroom Rice Bowl

Ingredients
  

  • 1 lb beef sirloin sliced thin against the grain
  • 2 cups jasmine rice
  • 8 oz mixed mushrooms shiitake, cremini, sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 medium onion sliced
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp fresh ginger grated
  • 2 green onions chopped
  • 1 tsp cornstarch

Method
 

  1. Step 1: Cook jasmine rice according to package directions and set aside to keep warm.
  2. Step 2: Mix soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil, and cornstarch in a small bowl to create the sauce.
  3. Step 3: Heat 1 tablespoon vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
  4. Step 4: Add sliced beef to the hot pan and cook for 3-4 minutes until browned, then remove and set aside.
  5. Step 5: Add remaining oil to the same pan and sauté onions for 2 minutes until softened.
  6. Step 6: Add mushrooms, garlic, and ginger to the pan and cook for 4-5 minutes until mushrooms are golden.
  7. Step 7: Return beef to the pan and pour in the prepared sauce, stirring to coat everything evenly.
  8. Step 8: Cook for 2-3 minutes until sauce thickens and beef is heated through.
  9. Step 9: Serve over warm rice and garnish with chopped green onions.

Notes

For extra flavor, marinate the beef in 1 tablespoon soy sauce for 30 minutes before cooking. You can substitute the beef with chicken or tofu for variations.
