Ingredients

  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 8 oz white mushrooms sliced
  • 1 small yellow onion diced
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard
  • 1.5 cups beef broth
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 8 oz wide egg noodles
  • 2 tbsp chopped fresh parsley
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Method

  1. Step 1: Cook egg noodles according to package directions. Drain and set aside.
  2. Step 2: In a large skillet over medium-high heat, brown the ground beef, breaking it into small pieces. Drain excess fat.
  3. Step 3: Add onions and mushrooms to the skillet. Cook for 5 minutes until softened.
  4. Step 4: Stir in garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  5. Step 5: Sprinkle flour over the mixture and stir to coat. Cook for 1 minute.
  6. Step 6: Whisk in beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, and Dijon mustard. Simmer for 5 minutes until slightly thickened.
  7. Step 7: Remove from heat and stir in sour cream until fully incorporated.
  8. Step 8: Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  9. Step 9: Serve sauce over cooked egg noodles, garnished with fresh parsley.

Notes

For extra richness, use full-fat sour cream. Leftovers keep well in the fridge for 3 days - the sauce thickens when chilled, so add a splash of broth when reheating.
