Pioneer Women Chili is a rich, hearty dish that brings warmth and tradition to your table. With ground beef, beans, and bold spices, it’s the perfect comforting meal for any season.

Ingredients

Scale

2 pounds of ground beef

1 onion, diced

2 cloves of garlic, minced

1 bell pepper, diced

2 cups of crushed tomatoes

2 cans of kidney beans, drained and rinsed

2 tablespoons of chili powder

1 tablespoon of cumin

Salt and pepper to taste

Optional: A pinch of cayenne pepper for heat

Instructions

1. Start by browning the ground beef in a large pot over medium heat. As the beef cooks, break it up with a spoon until it’s all browned. Drain excess fat.

2. Add the onion and garlic to the pot, and sauté until the onion becomes translucent.

3. Toss in the bell pepper and allow it to soften just slightly.

4. Stir in the crushed tomatoes, kidney beans, chili powder, and cumin. Mix everything thoroughly.

5. Reduce the heat to low, cover the pot, and let it simmer for about 45 minutes, stirring occasionally.

6. Season with salt, pepper, and cayenne if desired. Serve hot with your favorite toppings.

Notes

Store leftovers in the fridge for 3–4 days or freeze for up to 3 months. Reheat gently on the stovetop, adding a splash of water or broth if needed. Customize the heat level with cayenne or jalapeños and consider adding smoked paprika for a flavor twist.
