Ingredients

2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking soda

1 teaspoon salt

1 cup unsalted butter, softened

3/4 cup granulated sugar

3/4 cup packed brown sugar

2 large eggs

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

2 cups chocolate chips (semi-sweet or dark chocolate)

1 cup chopped macadamia nuts or pecans

1/2 cup sweetened coconut flakes (optional)

Pinch of sea salt for topping

Instructions

1. Preheat your oven to 375°F and line baking sheets with parchment paper.

2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.

3. In a large bowl, cream together butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until fluffy (2–3 mins).

4. Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla extract.

5. Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet mixture and stir until just combined.

6. Fold in chocolate chips, nuts, and coconut flakes.

7. Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto baking sheets, spacing 2 inches apart.

8. Bake for 9–11 minutes until edges are golden and centers are still soft.

9. Remove and sprinkle lightly with sea salt. Cool 5 minutes before transferring to a rack.

Notes

You can freeze cookie dough balls for up to 3 months—just add 1–2 minutes to the baking time.

Store baked cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.
