Hot Chocolate Floats are the coziest way to enjoy dessert and a drink all in one. Rich cocoa meets creamy ice cream in this fun, customizable winter treat.

Ingredients

2 cups whole milk (or milk alternative)

1/3 cup dark chocolate chips or chunks

3 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder

23 tbsp sugar (to taste)

1 tsp vanilla extract

Pinch of salt

Ice cream (vanilla, peppermint, coffee, etc.)

Optional toppings: whipped cream, fudge sauce, chocolate shavings, sprinkles

Instructions

1. In a medium saucepan, whisk together milk, chocolate chips, cocoa powder, sugar, vanilla, and salt over medium heat until smooth. Do not boil.

2. Taste and adjust sweetness or cocoa as needed.

3. Scoop 2–3 generous scoops of ice cream into each mug.

4. Carefully pour the warm hot chocolate over the ice cream.

5. Top with whipped cream, fudge, and your favorite toppings. Serve immediately with straws or spoons.

Notes

Prepare hot chocolate up to 2 days in advance and reheat gently before assembling.
