Crispy-edged chicken thighs tossed in a sticky honey garlic glaze—this 20 Minute Honey Garlic Chicken is fast, flavorful, and perfect over rice.
4 boneless, skin-on chicken thighs (about 1.5 lbs)
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp black pepper
1/4 cup cornstarch
2 tbsp vegetable oil
2 tbsp unsalted butter
4 cloves garlic, minced
1/3 cup honey
1/4 cup soy sauce (low-sodium preferred)
1 tbsp rice vinegar
2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)
Sesame seeds (optional garnish)
1. Pat chicken thighs dry and season both sides with salt and pepper. Lightly coat with cornstarch, shaking off excess.
2. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add chicken skin-side down and sear 4–5 minutes until golden. Flip and cook another 4 minutes. Remove to a plate.
3. In the same pan, melt butter. Add garlic and stir for 30 seconds until fragrant.
4. Add honey, soy sauce, and rice vinegar. Simmer about 2 minutes, stirring, until slightly thickened.
5. Return chicken to the pan and spoon glaze over top. Cook 1–2 minutes per side on higher heat until glossy and coated.
6. Garnish with green onions and sesame seeds. Serve hot over rice.
If the sauce tastes too sweet, add an extra splash of rice vinegar.
For extra heat, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the glaze.
Boneless skinless thighs also work—reduce searing time slightly.
